Drushyam Movie Review,Venkatesh Drushyam Movie Review,Drushyam Telugu Movie Review,Drushyam Movie Review 2014,Drushyam Movie Ratings,Drushyam Review,Venkatesh Meena Drushyam Movie Review,

 Release Date : July 11, 2014
Director : Sripriya
Producer : D. Suresh Babu, Rajkumar Sethupathi
Music Director : Sharath Starring : Venkatesh, Meena, Kritika
Movie Ratings : 3.5/5

Drushyam has been one of the most awaited films in the recent past. Remake of a Malayalam super hit with the same name, this film has Venkatesh and Meena in lead roles. We have been to a special screening and are bringing you the detailed review much in advance.

Story:- Ram Babu(Venkatesh) is a honest cable operator in the small village of Rajavaram. He lives with his wife(Meena) and two teenage daughters and leads a happy life with his small but happy family. One fine day, an uncanny incident featuring his elder daughter strikes his family, and puts them in deep trouble with the cops. Rest of the story is as to how Ram Babu manages to come out of his problems, and saves his family.

Plus Points:- Firstly, I would like to commend Venkatesh for a doing a mature role like this. Time and again, he has proved that no one can beat him when it comes to family and sentiment films. He plays the character of Ram Babu exceptionally, and justifies it with heartwarming emotions. Venkatesh is especially good in the confrontation scenes with the police, and carries the whole film on his shoulders. Meena is apt as Venkatesh’s wife, and supports him ably. Major highlight of the film is the way family emotions and the bond showcased between the family members connects with the audience. The girls who did the role of Venkatesh’s daughters were exceptional. Yet another major plus point of this film is the suspense and thrill that is showcased throughout the film. Right after first fifteen minutes, till the very end, Drushyam holds you on to your seats completely. Once again Nadia does an superb job in the role of a police officer. She has a tailor made role and is ably supported by Naresh.

Minus Points:- First fifteen minutes of the film looks pretty ordinary, and takes some time for the story to kick off. The so called romance that is showcased between Meena and Venkatesh looks unnecessary and forced. Those who have seen the Malayalam version, will not enjoy the movie much. Some scenes and locations look similar to the original and could have been changed to suit the nativity.

Technical Aspects:- Firstly, I would like to mention about the story, which is quite unique for a Telugu film. The way a family subject is interlaced with a thrilling mystery is quite entertaining. Music of the film is quite ok, and so is the background score. Camerawork is pretty good, and showcases the film in good light. Editing is quite good, and adds a lot of depth to the film. Dialogues are good, and so are the lyrics. Screenplay of the film is quite brilliant, and the way the suspense is revealed is also good. Major credit should go to the director Sri Priya, who handles the subject quite cleverly.

Verdict:- On the whole, Drishyam is one film which works big time in all departments. Right from the striking performances of Venkatesh and Nadia, to the thrilling suspense elements, Drushyam has everything for everyone. A must watch for the entire family.

Given that the original film was a huge hit and grossed over Rs 50 Crore in Malayalam, the movie garnered much hype and buzz in Telugu as well. While Venkatesh steps into the shoes of Mohanlal, Meena, who was part of original, plays the same role in this film as well. Drushyam begins with Rambabu (Venkatesh) waiting in a police station. As he recollects the series of past events in his mind, the movie is narrated. Simply, put Drushyam is a crime mystery laced with family drama. Nadhiya, who played Pawan Kalyan’s Atta in Attarintiki Daaredi, is surprise package in the film. She will be seen in a good role again. Director Sripriya didn’t strain her brain much as she strictly followed the original film. Story-screenplay by Jeethu Joseph deserves special mention. Although the story is predictable, what engages you till the end is its narration. Save few laughs in the first half; credit: Sapthagiri, the movie has its own share of lag moments. As the movie progresses towards the end, it concludes with a nice twist. And that twist is worth waiting for over two hours.

Navdeep says Learn cost-effective films from RGV

Navdeep says Learn cost-effective films from RGV Actor Navdeep, who has collaborated with Ram Gopal Varma for forthcoming Telugu thriller “Ice Cream”, says the filmmaker knows how to make cost-effective films and that other filmmakers should learn from him the art of avoiding unnecessarily expenditure on a film. “Besides acting, I learnt a lot about production from RGV in this film, especially about how not to waste money for shooting. When I work with newcomers, I’ve realised that they do a lot of wastage. It hurts me a lot because when a film bombs at the box-office, the actor registers a flop,” Navdeep told. “Flops are usually associated with the actors. Therefore, I always tell people not to waste money. I think filmmakers should learn from RGV about how efficiently one can make a film without having to compromise on cost because efficiency is not cost-cutting,” he added. Navdeep is trying to apply whatever he learnt from Varma to his other films. “One of my other films is under production. I’m trying to include the techniques I learnt from RGV in it. I’m trying to tell people to not waste money, but then again I have my limitations and I can’t dictate terms. My biggest takeaway from ‘Ice Cream’ will be how to make cost-efficient films,” he said. “Ice Cream”, which has been shot using flow-cam technology, also features Tejaswi Madivada. The film’s story unfolds in a house. Navdeep says shooting with flow-cam was a “unique” experience. “The story features just two characters and a house. We lived in the house in our characters and were never asked to act. Flow-cam allows you to shoot a scene in one flow. The camera would just follow us in the house and capture scenes,” Navdeep said. “This technology will soon be embraced by all filmmakers. It might not work for all films, but shooting with it definitely gives a unique experience,” he added. “Ice Cream” is slated to release Saturday.
