India’s Supreme Court has ordered a stay on the release of Apoorva Lakhia’s Zanjeer remake.
Earlier there were reports that the battle over the remake of the 1973 film had cleared up with the Bombay High Court giving producer Amit Mehra a green signal.
Apparently, the Supreme Court has ordered the arbitrator to complete the arbitration proceedings expeditiously and positively within the next six weeks.
This order comes in the wake of Amit’s brothers, Sumeet and Puneet, approaching it against the High Court order.
Mehra’s remake of Zanjeer had run into trouble when his brothers Sumeet and Puneet terminated the contract that gave him the remake rights in the first place citing non-payment of dues.
The Zanjeer remake, which features Ram Charan Teja, Priyanka Chopra, Sanjay Dutt, Sri Hari, Prakash Raj and Mahie Gill was slated for release this June.
