Welcome to the movie review of Swamy Ra Ra .The movie carried some craze with Nikhil’s changed looks , the presence of energetic Swathi and their promotional efforts are also appreciated . Let us see if there is any depth in the content that matches the marketing and hype.
Story:

 

The story is of the type crime comedy genre . The movie revolves around 5 characters and an idol . An invaluable small antique Ganesh Idol is stolen from the secret chambers of Anantha Padmanabha swamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram .  We have Surya [ Nikhil ] a pick pocketer doing small time petty thefts and has a girl friend in crime Pooja [ Pizza fame ] Swathy is an investigative journalist with her all new yellow Vespa Scooter . Durga [ Ravi Babu ] is the Villain who is after the missing Ganesh Idol and wants to earn millions grabbing it and does anything to achieve it. Jeeva is an antique item expert . How the stealing of the idol impact these characters forms the crux of the story.
Performances :

 

Nikhil’s Career was going no where with poor mass characterization in the last few movies and was quickly fading away from the industry much like Nitin for a brief period of his reel life . Many people felt earlier that Nikhil was imitating Ravi Teja to a large extent and he do not have guage to meet the characters he does . But , in this movie he gave a subdued expressions, better voice culture and brought some strength to the character .

 

He has good timing for comedy dialogues that elevated some scenes of the movie. Still, he needs to improve his expressions especially from a side view .

 

Swathi is a natural talent . Though she do not have the extra oomph needed for today’s heroines – she can carry author backed heroine roles well . Be it with Ashta Chemma , Golconda High School or Swamy Ra Ra – she has created an impact on the audience with her energy and cute expressions .

 

Sudheer Verma :

 

Though he is debutante director , the product does not look like so as he has focused on a strong narration and effective usage of characters as his strengths in the movie . There may not be many characters in the movie , but each character has a distinct shade , purpose and written well . He has strong impact of RGV and Hollywood directors like Quentin Tarantino on him with some of the expressions and styling reminding us of Kshana Kshanam . Overall , it is good first attempt . It remains to be seen , how he can handle commercial pot boilers though .

 

Technical Analysis :

 

Swamy Ra Ra movie starts of with an interesting voice over by Nara Rohit and the climax also is narrated by him . The screenplay of the movie is entertaining if not arresting . The movie goes on a standard pace with comedy elements intertwined into the main thread and there is no lag in first half or second half .  However , the movie needed a killer cameo at the end or a strong finishing punch that is missing in my view .  Cinematography is neat and BGM is also good . Other technical values are also good considering the fact that the movie is done on a limited budget

 

Verdict :

 

The success of the movie should be shared to a good extent by the promotional efforts put in the cast and crew of the film making it their own and it is a healthy trend for industry which every artist should adopt irrespective how busy the calendars are. Kudos to Nikhil , Swathi and others for working as a team and delivering a decent success at the box office.
